LAKEWOOD, Colo.
Colorado on Wednesday became the eighth State to comply with a federal mandate to implement a market of health insurance for people trying to shop for rates lower.
Democratic Governor John Hickenlooper visited St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood to sign the exchange of health measure into law. Surround by physicians and business groups, he welcomed the Exchange: Colorado forge his own way on reform of the health, before that the Federal Government steps and creates an exchange for the State.
"Become us a leader," Hickenlooper said to the applause of the crowd. "It gives invited more control, more options.".
Hickenlooper and other Democrats in the signature talked about the fact that only Colorado has developed an Exchange in the right to health through a legislature divided, with Democrats and Republicans coming together in support of the idea.
"Do us things our way," said Democratic Senator Betty Boyd, one of the sponsors of the Exchange.
But were the Republicans who helped develop the measurement of Exchange until the Governor not at the ceremony Wednesday praising the idea. Promoter of the Bill, House Republican Leader Amy Stephens House, was absent to care for a sick parent. Since the GOP, nobody seemed in his place. All of the Senate Republicans voted against the idea.
Perhaps because the State of Minnesota conservatives are promising to find primary challengers for the Republicans who supported the plan of Exchange. Opponents of the idea point out that Colorado is among the States suing the Federal Government on mandatory coverage in health of last year's law, and they accuse the Republicans who supported the Exchange to consent to the Act.
Al Maurer, a voter in the district of Stephens to find a candidate in the Republican primary, the next year, told that the Act is to ensure that Colorado will not be a cog in what he sees as a unlawful federal health.
"There was the intention of Parliament nice at the beginning with language flourished on the solutions of Colorado." But there is nothing in the Bill to ensure that we get satisfaction, Maurer said. He said that the Bill of health exchange inspired him and other conservatives in the area of Colorado Springs to start a group called Legislative Action Committee of Republican watchdog citizens they suspect are not stay true to conservative principles.
Maurer, said Bill exchange prompted the search for a conservative challenger for Stephens, the Republican Leader of the House. Maurer said that the search is still underway, but he said Stephens right territory can welcome its sponsorship of Exchange, even if the Exchange had the support of groups of companies.
"Because we are in this conservative district, we can get someone who is a social and fiscal conservative." We can do better, "said Maurer.
In Grand Junction, conservative Kevin King began a blog called "vet the gov," in which he examines the Republicans who took groups of health care campaign contributions and then supported the Exchange. King's does not work to bring down its own Senator and member of the House - who voted against trade - but he says conservatives everywhere in the world are scorching as the measure cleared the House GOP.
"Why the Republican party, who was adamant against ObamaCare, a kind of open their arms wide for this Bill is a little disturbing, at least,"said King."."
At the signing of the Bill, Hickenlooper sometimes seems to talk to people who were not in the room, people suspicious of the idea of Exchange.
"It is like putting your feet in the water to see how cold it is.". I think you'll find the water is not that cold, "Hickenlooper said."
The National Conference of State legislatures said that Colorado is the eighth State to adopt an Exchange since the adoption of the reform of the health of last year. At least two of these States - in Virginia and West Virginia - continue simultaneously on the right.
New Colorado exchange Act is simply the first step to develop an Exchange in place. Until end of 2013 or 2014 beginning of responsible State said that an Exchange would probably not be health and running for individual buyers and small groups. The federal health law says States should have exchanges in 2014 or the Federal Government will establish a place for them.
