BECKLEY - Registration is open for those of Beckley who are interested in learning more about how the affordable care Act is poised to change the health care industry.
Controversial health care reform is broad, sweeping and can be confusing. Why the virginiens West for health care affordable and health reform for West Virginia organizations will sponsor free training on the law Saturday at the Beckley - Raleigh County Convention Center.
Nurses and social workers can receive free credit for continuing education units by treating in exchange for committing to the education of friends, colleagues and neighbours about the affordable care Act.
"We will give people training some tools that make having this locally much easier education program,"exectuvie Director WVAHC Perry Bryant said."
For example, he added that they are provided with a copy of "faces of Reform in West Virginia", a DVD which allows individuals to tell their story of how they are affected by the affordable care Act. He said that the purpose is to teach at least 200 Virginiens West, which can then teach at least 50 in their own communities.
Bryant, said the reform is essentially equivalent to three fundamental principles: extend health insurance to all Americans, fundamental change of settlement control of costs and insurance.
"Insurance companies are going to be many more as insurance in the future", said Bryant. "They will be able to refuse the protection of the people because of pre-existing conditions or to load more because of their State of health". It really fundamentally changes how the insurance company. »
Containing costs, Bryant said, is accomplished by moving away from the current system of paying doctors by service and instead by looking at the results of their care.
"The incentives for this arrangement is to provide more services," said Bryant. "Which does not take into account quality, so we need to really change how it is pay us health care".
Often, he said that he will meet people who are insured and want to know why they should be concerned about the extension of the health insurance for uninsured persons. Bryant said he was more than a moral imperative to help those in need.
"It's not as if uninsured persons get sick," said Bryant. "They are doing and they end up in the hospital emergency room in the more expensive framework as possible." The cost of their treatment is transmitted to those of us who have commercial health insurance. »
He added that about four West virginiens die each week because of lack of health insurance.
The ACA can also stimulate economic development in 2014, said Bryant.
"Currently greater deterrence unique entrepreneurship in America and Virginia is unable to obtain health insurance, Bryant a." people are trapped in the jobs they will love cannot be not because primarily of inability to obtain insurance if they go out and start their own business. "".
Bryant said until this response from the other two sessions in Morgantown and Wheeling was extremely grateful.
The session begins at 10 a.m. and lasts until 2: 30 pm. According to a release of the Organization, the event is intended for health professionals, business people and interested members of the public.
